This ethereal painting was inspired by a recent visit to Kenrokuen Garden (兼六園) in northern Japan, one of the country’s most celebrated landscape gardens. Designed as a traditional stroll garden with ponds, streams, and teahouses, it reveals its beauty slowly as you move through the landscape.
 
The preserved maple leaves embedded in the painting were gathered during my walk through the garden, bringing a small, authentic fragment of that place into the work. Expressive brushwork and veils of soft greens, creams, blues and pinks create an atmosphere that feels quiet and contemplative, lending a sense of softness and calm to the surrounding space.
 
This artwork arrives in a wood floater frame with an elegant brushed gold finish, wired and ready to hang.
