Strata
Strata is an early release from my Upcoming Collection, "Ancienne" -coming in September, and inspired by my 2026 travels through Europe.
There's something I just love about the way the light falls on ancient buildings. My camera roll is full of architectural details I discover on my travels to places like Tuscany, Lisbon, and Prague ...where the walls have held many identities, lived many lives.
That's what this painting is meant to evoke: a return to the sun-washed ancient walls of Europe, where centuries of stories have settled quietly in layers of peeling paint and cracked plaster. Honoring those walIs, I created this painting through a slow process of layering and uncovering: paint, plaster, earth pigments, limestone wash, and preserved ferns peeking through. Fissures in the texture are the intentional result of material and process. You can catch a glimmer of gold in a corner crevice, where the light lingers just long enough to remind us that beauty is often born not in perfection, but in enduring.
Painting is 16"x 16" x 1.25" on cradled wood panel and comes wired and ready to hang.
